How to determine whether MASS can be run on your computer

Generally speaking, the software is relatively lightweight in terms of required processor power and memory/storage capacity. In comparison to other engineering tools, MASS requires barely any resources at all. Where most users will find compatibility issues is in the type of setup on which they are trying to install the software.

Supported Computers

MASS is capable of running on Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, (32 and 64 bit editions). The MASS software is only supported for standalone, physical machines running a supported operating system (ie. laptop or desktop computer running Windows 10) as opposed to virtual environments or servers.

Note: MASS is currently not compatible with a Linux or Mac Operating System. Some designers have been successful at installing the program using a Mac when running emulation software, but this function is not specifically supported.

Computer Specification Requirements

As mentioned earlier, MASS is relatively lightweight in terms of the required computer resources that are needed to perform a design.  The detailed computer requirements are summarized in Table 1, below.

Table 1: MASS Computer Requirements

Minimum

Recommended (or better)
Processor speed 1 GHz 2 GHz
RAM (Random Access Memory) 1 GB (1024 MB) 2 GB

Screen resolution (pixels)

1024 X 768/640/576 1600 X 1200/1000/900

Free hard drive space

30 MB 120 MB

Note: dependencies such as the Microsoft .NET Framework or C++ runtime (needed for some loads analysis functions) are not included within these requirements.

If there is any question regarding whether a particular setup is supported, please contact MASS technical support for clarification prior to purchase.
